After public uproar over Audubon Nature Institute nearly doubling membership fees for the zoo, aquarium, and insectarium, Audubon announced Wednesday that it is returning to its old prices for annual memberships.
"Audubon Nature Institute will reopen sales of its memberships on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, keeping prices unchanged from earlier 2025 pricing through February of next year," the organization announced in a news release.
The institute said it will continue to study new membership pricing levels, as it deals with a third consecutive year of operating losses.
"We listened to feedback from community members in the New Orleans area and held a focus group that allowed for in-depth discussion about our prices," said Audubon CEO Michael J. Sawaya. "We are evaluating our membership pricing to meet member's needs while operating financially responsible parks and attractions in an environment of reduced tourism and rising inflation."
Audubon will announce new pricing for memberships next month, with the prices taking effect March 1.
