A quick-acting priest kept what appears to be an unfortunate accident from getting a whole lot worse Thursday night at a New Orleans seminary.
Father Joshua Rodrigue believes it was a spark from the Notre Dame Seminary’s Christmas light display that set fire to the hay bales in its Nativity scene, according to the Clarion Herald.
“We have a video that shows the lights went out as soon as the fire started,” he said.
Rodrigue, a rector at the seminary, rushed out and extinguished the small blaze before it got too unwieldy.
New Orleans firefighters soon arrived to finish the job.
