Hammond firefighters discovered a body inside a burning home Wednesday morning.
According to Hammond fire officials at about 12:28 a.m., firefighters responded to a house fire off Old Covington Hwy.
When crews arrived, they found a structure well engulfed in fire. A person was found dead inside the burning home. It is unclear how the person died. Firefighters did manage to get the fire under control and at this time the cause of the fire is under investigation. No other information is available at this time.
