One day after he was arrested on drugs and prostitution charges, Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong is defending himself from the allegations, implying that the investigation against him may be politically motivated.
Truong bonded out of the Washington Parish Jail on Tuesday night, hours after he was taken into custody in connection with the Louisiana State Police investigation. On Wednesday morning, Truong posted his response to the accusations against him on Facebook.
"When you’re cutting contracts, shutting down favors and exerting influence—shaking up things and exposing truths—you become a target," Truong wrote. "I pray that God reveals every person that had a hand in this, and there are many."
Truong also thanked the people who are standing behind him amid this controversy. He also vehemently denied the accusations leveled against him.
"I thank my family, friends and multitude of supporters for your outpouring of love," Truong wrote. "If you think I ran a drug operation (and all those other accusations), you’re sadly mistaken. Those who know me, KNOW me and I’ll let God and my attorney handle the rest!"
