How disruptive are these water issues that seem to frequently pop up in New Orleans?
No one has studied it out to put a dollar amount on it, but LSU economist Dr. Jim Richardson says it will have an impact on businesses that have to bring in loads of bottled water or boil pot after pot... or face customers just not showing up.
"It will increase potential costs or lower possible revenues they might receive," said Richardson. "A small restaurant, two or three bad days is not good."
While these disruptions are temporary, typically not lasting more than a couple of days, they seem to happen frequently.
According to data compiled by WWL-TV, this incident is the twelfth in about a year.
The boil advisories also take a toll on residents who have the added time and expense of boiling or buying water.
