The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board says a boil advisory that began early Saturday for part of Algiers is finally over.
Construction crews hit a water main near Gen. De Gaulle Drive causing water pressure to drop below 20 psi.
For most of the weekend, the entire Westbank of New Orleans was under a precautionary boil advisory.
Monday, tests showed most of Algiers was receiving properly treated drinking water. But in an area between the Westbank Expressway, Gen. De Gaulle Drive, Behrman Place, and the Orleans/Jefferson line, samples tested positive for E. Coli bacteria.
That section of Algiers remained under the boil advisory until Wednesday afternoon when the utility announced water samples tested negative.
Customers who have not used their water during the boil advisory are advised to flush their plumbing by running water for several minutes.
