The old saying goes if you want the weather in south Louisiana to change, just wait about five minutes!
And after a week of almost summerlike conditions, the weather will begin to shift today. Severe weather threats are in today's forecast, followed by a temperature plunge by Monday.
LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim says all you can do is strap in for the ride.
"Get ready for a bit of whiplash with the forecast. After the severe weather round, we will rebound to the 80s over the weekend, before we take a more frigid turn on Monday morning."
Keim says wake up temperatures on Monday will be near thirty nine degrees for the south shore and thirty four degrees on the north shore.
For now, he says, we escape any possibility of an arctic freeze.
