A woman behind the wheel of her Honda CRV was car jacked just before nine am in Algiers, Tuesday morning.
The crime took place on Vespasian Boulevard near the intersection with Caladium Lane.
According to NOPD the suspect opened the woman’s front door and punched her twice. He then pulled her from the vehicle, then drew a handgun. The man got in the woman’s CRV and sped away.
The car is described as a black 2014 Honda CRV with Arkansas license plate 0172VN.
NOPD reports there have been more than 240 car jackings in New Orleans this year, marking a 186% increase over 2019.
