The latest crown jewel in the collection of New Orleans restauranteur Dickie Brennan will be his on Friday.

That’s when the Dickie Brennan & Company will take possession of the property and close the deal.

Brennan is buying the restaurant from family of auto dealership scion Ray Brandt.

The deal represents the third time one of New Orleans’ oldest restaurants has changed hands.

The DeFelice family, fourth generation owners of Pascal’s Manale sold the storied eatery to Brandt, who was gravely ill at the time.  He died just days after the sale was completed from pancreatic cancer.

Brandt family attorney Randy Smith is quoted in the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate as saying: “A deal’s been made. Everyone’s agreed. I think its great the Dickie Brennan restaurant group is going to be owning and operating Pascal’s Manale.  They agreed to pay a fair price, and we believe that they will restore Pascal’s Manale to its great, venerable traditions.”

While the Brennan group has stayed silent on the transaction, worded leaked erroneously that the sale had been completed on Thursday.

But restaurant writer Ian McNulty tells WWL First News he received a letter from Dickie Brennan & Company stating the purchase will finalize on Friday, March 17.

In 1913, Frank Manale bought a corner grocery store at Napoleon Avenue and Dryades Street to open Pascal’s Manale Restaurant. The DeFelice family then owned this institution for four generations, a total of 106 years. In 2019, the DeFelice family sold the Uptown restaurant to the Jessica and Ray Brandt family.
