A famous French Quarter restaurant joins three other restaurants across the country in winning a prestigious wine award sought by restaurateurs worldwide.
On their 75th anniversary, Brennan’s restaurant wins Wine Spectator’s 2021 Grand Award, recognizing the establishment’s high level of wine service.
The restaurant won the award in 1983 and 2005 but has not had the top honor since Hurricane Katrina when the storm ruined thousands of wine bottles in their cellar, which took decades to acquire.
“It’s a big deal,” said Ian McNulty food and wine reporter for Nola.com.
“Less than a hundred restaurants across the globe have this Grand Award, and one of them is now Brennan’s once again, so they are ecstatic over there.”
Wine Spectator has different levels of awards, however, the Grand Award is the highest achievement “that show an uncompromising, passionate devotion to the quality of their wine programs,” according to the publication.
Brennan’s shares the honor with Le Bernardin in New York and Single Thread Farms in California’s wine country.
