The Supreme Court will allow the Biden administration to use a higher estimate, challenged by Republican-led states, for calculating damages to people and the environment from greenhouse gas emissions. The justices did not comment in refusing to put back in place an order from a federal judge in Louisiana that had blocked the administration from putting greater emphasis on potential damage from greenhouse gas emissions when creating rules for polluting industries.
U.S. natural-gas exports are due for a big new boost. Venture Global LNG plans to build a multibillion-dollar liquefied natural-gas export facility in Louisiana, after securing $13.2 billion in financing for the first new U.S.
plant to get a green light in three years. It is also the first U.S. LNG project to officially go forward since the Biden administration said the U.S. would increase shipments of gas to Europe after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine threw Europe’s supplies into doubt.
