A nuclear power plant west of New Orleans will be getting extra inspections because an offsite radiation monitor was miss calibrated for more than a decade.

The error at the Waterford 3 plant in Killona had low to moderate safety implications.  The calibration error began in January of 2011; Entergy corrected the problem this February.


Work rules, not wages, are what still separate railroad labor and management.

The August recommendations of a Presidential Emergency Board called for wage increases that add up to a compounded 24% boost, for the years 2020 to 2024.

The deal was good enough to persuade leaders at 9 of the 12 bargaining unions to take the terms back to their members.

But two unions remain unsatisfied, and they represent 66,000 engineers and conductors.

The rules in question require train workers to remain on call for days at a time, ready to report to work within 90 minutes.

Futures are up after stocks sold off yesterday. The Dow Industrials tumbled 1,276, the NASDAQ dropped 632 and the S&P 500 was down 177.
