We are learning more about a weekend murder on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish. While attempting to retrieve the vehicle, the owner was confronted by several male suspects. At least one of the males fired at the vehicle’s owner.
Cops tells us it all started with a stolen vehicle that led to a shooting.
"Hours before the shooting, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 9000 block of Cindy Dr.," Sergeant Brandon Veal said in a news release. "Later that evening, the owner located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 900 block of Beechgrove Blvd."
He explained that when the owner went to get the vehicle back, things took a turn for the worse.
"While attempting to retrieve the vehicle, the owner was confronted by several male suspects. At least one of the males fired at the vehicle’s owner."
Veal says while the shooter missed the vehicle owner, at least one bullet went into a nearby residence.
"The decedent, who was inside his residence, was fatally wounded when a projectile fired by the suspects went through his apartment window."
He says the man hit by the bullet had nothing to do with the stolen vehicle.
"This remains an active investigation. There is no additional information available for release at this time. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call our Homicide Section at 504-364-5300 or contact Crimestoppers."
