Cantrell Administration senior official Peter Bowen is out of a job.
Bowen had been on suspension since a run-in with New Orleans Police after he crashed his pick up into parked cars and the support posts for a pair of balconies in the French Quarter during an alleged drunken driving incident.
The problem for Bowen began when he was awakened by officers while behind the wheel of his pickup truck off Dumaine and Chartres. Instead of complying with officers, Bowen reportedly began rummaging through his glove box looking for something. When asked what he was doing, Bowen reportedly replied he was looking for his badge.
Things began doing downhill as officers say Bowen was refusing to cooperate with them. He repeatedly demanded the officers ‘call Sean Ferguson’, and told officers they were going to regret arresting him.
Complicating his arrest Bowen refused to sign the citation that officers presented to him.
By the time Bowen arrived at City Jail, he was even more uncooperative by refusing to sit in a chair during booking and allegedly made an implied threat that since he could bench press 405 pounds, officers would not be able to restrain him or get him to comply with the booking process.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate Bowen could not be reached for a comment on his termination.
