The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two violent crimes that happened 50 minutes apart from each other.
The first was an armed robbery that happened Sunday at about 11:14 a.m. in the 5400 block of Florida Avenue.
Police say a 59-year-old male victim parked at the location when two armed suspects approached and demanded the victim exit his vehicle. The man complied and the suspects fled the location in the victim's vehicle.
Then, less than an hour later at about 11:58 a.m. police reported that a 13-year-old boy was gunned down in a drive-by shooting at the corner of Avon Park Boulevard and Curran Boulevard.
According to NOPD, the victim was walking when an occupant in a passing vehicle opened fire. The victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported by EMS to the hospital. Police are still searching for the suspect in this incident.
