New Orleans police report a series of armed robberies and carjackings Saturday and early Sunday.
The robbers used a variety of weapons.
In one case, an initial police report says the attacker beat the victim with a broken piece of a chair.
"Suspect approached victim and asked for money. Victim refused. Suspect attempted to take money while striking victim several times with broken chair leg. Suspect fled."
That happened just before 2:45pm in the 3500 block of Tulane Ave.
Another man was stabbed after trying to get his wallet back from an armed robber.
"Suspect approached armed with knife and took victim’s wallet. Victim tried to regain wallet. Suspect stabbed victim multiple times.
Victim transported to hospital via EMS. Suspect fled."
That was just before 4:30am Sunday in the 1000 block of Loyola Ave.
Shortly before midnight two suspects with guns carjacked a man in the 300 block of North Rampart Street.
"Two unknown armed suspects demanded victim's vehicle.
Victim complied & suspects fled in victim's vehicle."
There was another carjacking at 12:45am in the 1900 block Thalia Street.
"Victims parked when sedan approached alongside. Armed suspects exited vehicle demanding victims’ property. Suspects fled in victims’ vehicle towards Calliope."
