The sudden swap from incumbent President Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris as their presumptive nominee for the White House has given the Democrats’ hopes of a second straight Presidential election victory a shot in the arm.
And a leading commentator on the blue side of the aisle told WWL’s Newell Normand that Harris’s pick for her running mate seems to be adding to that wave of energy.
“I think there’s kind of two models,” former Bill Clinton campaign manager James Carville said. “The Clinton ’92 model was more generational, but the Obama ‘08 model was more about governance and bringing some experience to it. I think the Vice President chose more like to Obama's 2008 model.”
Harris announced that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz would be her running mate for the 2024 election.
“I don't know Governor Walz, but I know a lot of people that do know him,” he continued. “He’s very highly regarded. He's got a good what I like. He’s a freshwater guy. He's not coastal at all. Yeah. And I think he's going to match up very well with [Republican VP nominee J.D.] Vance… I think that people are going to not just fall in line. I think this choice can generate some real excitement among Democrats.”
