High winds and thunderstorm activity on Lake Ponchartrain has caused the operators of the Causeway to restrict traffic.
Due to poor visability and stormy conditions motorcycles, glass trucks and recreational vehicles are not allowed on the Causeway until further notice.
Restricted vehicles are urged to find different routes around Lake Pontchartrain until the restrictions on the Causeway are lifted.
Drivers who use the Causeway should also know the northbound (toward Mandeville) direction of the Causeway will be closed Sunday morning from 6:30 to 9:30am.
This is being done so LADOTD can conduct an accident investigation.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes during this closure.
