The suspect involved in last week's Central Business District shootout that was caught on video is now facing a murder charge in connection with a New Orleans East homicide that happened days earlier.
New Orleans police arrested Bryceson Jones on Thursday in connection with the Sunday, January 14 shooting on Chef Menteur Highway at Downman Road. According to investigators, Jones, 23, shot a woman and two men from an SUV, which then sped away. One day later, one of the wounded men, Seth Chedville, 18, died at a hospital.
Police say Jones was also the gunman involved in the Wednesday, January 17, drive-by shooting at the intersection of Common and Carondelet Streets that left a man and a woman injured. A driver in the area captured the shooting on his dashcam video. That video later went viral online. Police say Jones was driving a truck stolen from a nearby hotel during that shooting. That truck last later found dumped and burned.
According to investigators, evidence from the scene of the New Orleans East shooting led them to Jones. Police rebooked Jones on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Jones is also facing two other attempted murder counts and a host of other charges stemming from the CBD shooting.
