A crash on the westbank-bound Crescent City Connection last weekend proved fatal and has landed a 26-year-old Terrytown woman behind bars on charges of vehicular homicide.
Louisiana State Police reports the crash happened early on the morning of Saturday, October 4. Troopers say a 2012 Acura TL driven by Azaria Scott rear-ended 36-year-old Lonnie Thompson of Westwego.
The crash threw Thompson from his 2022 Can-Am Spyder, causing serious injuries.
Troopers say Scott attempted to flee the scene, but found her and her disabled vehicle at the General DeGaulle off ramp. Investigators say she failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DWI, hit-and-run, reckless operation and negligent injuring.
After spending a week in the hospital in critical condition, Thompson died from his injuries on Sunday, October 12. Following his death, troopers re-booked Scott on Monday on a charge of vehicular homicide.
