There is a good chance you had COVID according to Louisiana Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter.
“In Louisiana, 69% of the general population has had COVID to date, irrespective of vaccine status,” Dr. Kanter told WWL’s Newell Normand. Kanter says children have had COVID at an even higher rate.
“And this is a number that really surprised me, I would not have thought it was this high but it is, in kids zero to 17 in Louisiana…85% have had COVID,” said Kanter.
Kanter also says 58% of people nationwide have had COVID regardless of their vaccination status. That number is higher in Louisiana where of all people in the state who have had COVID, if you narrow down the numbers to just children, that number becomes 85%.
As of Thursday, the Louisiana Department of Health reports 318 new COVID cases and 62 COVID patients in the hospital with 4 new deaths.
