As many as seven charter schools in New Orleans are vying for two vacant public school buildings.
The Albert Dent School located in the Fairgrounds district and the Edgar P. Harney School in Central City.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, in February NOLA Public Schools announced they were putting the facilities up for occupancy.
Four charters are looking at the Dent complex at the former McDonogh 28 on Esplanade Avenue: New Harmony High School; Bricolage Middle School; International High School; and Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans.
Three charters are interested in the Harney campus: ReNEW School is looking to locate their therapeutic school and their early childhood program at the Eagle Street; and EQA: Central City.
School Superintendent Avis Williams will likely announce which schools are selected at the meeting of the Orleans Parish School Board today.
