Authorities in St. Tammany Parish say a child found his parents' bodies this morning in their Slidell-area home in the 1300 block of Belair Blvd.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, the couple was estranged from each other. While authorities did not use the phrase "murder-suicide," they are describing it as an apparent domestic incident.
"STPSO deputies were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of Belair Boulevard near Slidell after a child called 911 to report he found his parents unresponsive and bleeding," according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
"Responding deputies located a male and female deceased inside a bedroom at the residence. A firearm was located nearby."
Officials with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services were called to the scene to care for the two children that were inside the home.
The incident remains under investigation.
