Child killed, shooting on Bourbon in violent weekend

Nine people have been shot during a particularly violent weekend across New Orleans with two mass shootings within hours of each other.

The first occurred at Bourbon and Orleans in the French Quarter, around 2am when a man opened fire, hitting five people.

The victims were all males ages 30, 37, 51, 26, and one of the victim’s ages is unknown.

All are hospitalized in stabile condition.

A person is in custody at this time.

Then before four people were shot on Iberville and North Robertson before 5am.

One juvenile is dead, three others injured and in stable condition at local hospitals.

NOPD said, "At around 4:40 a.m., First District officers were notified of an aggravated battery by shooting involving four victims – a 15-year-old male, two 16-year-old males, and an adult male who were transported to the hospital. The 15-year-old male was pronounced dead at the hospital."

Another killing took place off Bullard and Curran Blvd in New Orleans East around 5 in the evening Saturday.

Also in New Orleans East at Lake Forrest and Read Boulevard later around 7pm, a person was found shot to death.

Early Saturday morning a seven year old boy was shot in a gun related incident off Boeing Street in Pine Woods area of the East.

He arrived at a hospital in a private car.

All of these cases are open and under investigation.
