An offshore oil worker is stable in a New Orleans hospital after being airlifted from a mobile production ship following a medical emergency.
Coast Guard officials say they responded to a call from the Helix Producer 1 on Saturday while the boat was about 95 miles south of Port Fourchon. Watchstanders say the people who phoned in the emergency told them a crew member was experiencing kidney stone symptoms.
An helicopter crew flew to the boat, landed on board, and took the 56-year-old crew member to the University Medical Center emergency room.
