The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans District today announced a contract for improved levees to protect St. Charles, St. John, and St. James parishes.

"Work is to include construction of a T-wall at the pipeline corridor," Public Affairs Officer Rene Poche said in a news release. "The contract award amount is $15,023,429. Work will be performed in St. John the Baptist Parish. The contract is scheduled to be completed in Fall of 2027."

Poche says the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project... will achieve 100-year storm surge risk reduction.

The latest contract was awarded to Dynamic Construction Group, LLC, of Baton Rouge.

“The construction of the T-wall at West Shore Lake Pontchartrain, part of Contract 104, is a crucial flood risk reduction feature at a pipeline corridor. This structure will bring us closer to delivering essential flood risk reduction for the residents and workers in the area,” stated Col. Cullen Jones, Commander of the New Orleans District.
