Cops looking for person of interest in Poydras Street shooting
Investigators want to talk to a woman after a man was shot on Poydras Street near the river early Sunday morning.
"The NOPD is seeking to identify and locate a subject identified as a person of interest for questioning in the investigation of a shooting that occurring in the early morning hours today (April 4, 2021) in the 0-10 block of Poydras Street," according to a news release.
Cops say the pictured unknown female is believed to have accompanied the perpetrator in this incident.
The release says the shooting "reportedly began as a verbal altercation that escalated before the perpetrator shot the victim and fled."
Detectives say they are not seeking to charge the woman in the picture.
"The pictured person of interest is not wanted on criminal charges at this time. However, NOPD Eighth District detectives feel this individual has knowledge of information vital to the investigation and wish to interview her."

The initial police report says the shooting happened at 5:23am.
"Suspect produced handgun and shot victim. Suspect fled. Victim transported to local hospital by EMS."
