St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne says a man is facing charges today after a Saturday shooting in Hahnville.
"Just before 9:00 pm, deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the report of a father and son arguing at a residence in the 200 block of Shaw Street," according to a news release. "While deputies were enroute, the caller advised one of the subjects had been shot in the back."
Officials say when deputies arrived; they found 44-year-old Brandon Johnson with a gunshot wound to the lower back.
"Mr. Johnson was transported to a local area hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Mr. Johnson is in stable condition."
Detectives say Brandon Johnson and his stepson, Corey Labranch Jr., were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical.
"Brandon Johnson advised he heard a gunshot and then saw a firearm fall to the floor... He realized he had been shot."
Today, detectives arrested 21-year-old Corey Lee Labranch, Jr.
He is charged with aggravated second degree battery.
