A traffic stop in Mandeville resulted in the seizure of more than 300 counterfeit Oxycodone pills that sheriff's deputies suspect is fentanyl, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.
"At approximately 11 a.m. on May 28, a deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Patrol 2nd District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 1088 near the intersection of Oak Street in Mandeville." said Lt. Suzanne Carboni.
"The driver, 49-year-old Slidell resident Nathaniel Louis Arrington, was found to be in possession of one quarter pound of marijuana, nearly 350 counterfeit oxycodone pills suspected to contain fentanyl, a digital scale, plastic bags for repackaging drugs and $2,038," Carboni said.
"Our patrol deputies and the detectives with our Narcotics Division work closely together to identify individuals who are dealing drugs in our neighborhoods," said Sheriff Randy Smith. "I commend both the patrol deputy who made the stop and the detectives who followed up on the case for the work they did to get these dangerous drugs off the street."
Deputies cited Arrington for several traffic violation and booked him into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and marijuana, and other drug-related offenses.
