The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a 14-year-old student Wednesday amid allegations he was planning a school shooting.
"He posted on social media he was going to 'shoot up' another local junior high school," Lt. Suzanne Carboni said in a news release. "Deputies and detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified after another student told administrators about the threat."
She says they issued the boy a summons for menacing.
"(He) was released into the care of a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court."
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith says threats like this will be taken seriously.
“We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them.”
