NOPD is warning people using golf carts to offer rides to and from Jazz Fest, that it is illegal.
“The New Orleans Police Department’s Traffic Division will be actively enforcing laws and ordinances related to for-hire transportation during Jazz Fest,” the department insisted in a news release.
NOPD says such businesses require proper paperwork.
“This includes enforcement involving golf carts and similar vehicles operating for hire without the proper permits, registration, insurance, and required inspections.”
It comes after a number of people have been trying to make money offering such rides.
“Unpermitted for-hire activity—particularly involving golf carts transporting passengers on public streets—poses safety concerns and will not be allowed.”
Police are also urging fest-goers not to pay for rides on golf carts.
“Residents and visitors are encouraged to use properly licensed and permitted transportation services during the festival.”
