Coroner identifies woman killed in mass shooting outside Republic

Victim
Poleate Family

The New Orleans Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of the woman killed Sunday night when someone shot 12 people in the Warehouse District.

Spokesman Jason Melancon says 24-year-old Jezreel Poleate's preliminary cause of death was a gun shot wound.

She was one of seven women and five men gunned down in the 800 block of South Peters Street just before midnight on Sunday.

Poleate's family says she was waiting in line to get into the Republic nightclub at the time of the shooting.  Her loved ones do not believe she was the intended target of the gunfire.

New Orleans police have not publicly identified any suspects.

They are asking for public help in finding whoever pulled the trigger in this mass shooting.

At last report eleven people were hospitalized.
