A middle school teacher in Covington is accused of indecent behavior with a juvenile, Covington Police said Wednesday.
Officers arrested Christian Turgeau for the incident alleged to have happened at Pineview Middle School.
Police say a student reported the incident to school administrators, who the contacted Covington PD.
"The safety of our students is always our top priority," said St. Tammany Parish Public Schools Superintendent Frank Jabbia. "We are working closely with law enforcement and remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students."
Covington Police Chief Michael Ferrell said it took courage for the victim to come forward.
"We commend the victim for their bravery in coming forward and reporting this incident," said Ferrell "We want to remind parents and guardians to have open conversations with their children about personal safety and encourage them to report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior. Early reporting is crucial in preventing further harm."
