The Crescent City Connection is open -- again.
After an overnight shutdown, transportation officials say the Mississippi River bridge is open -- one lane in each direction.
New Orleans officials asked the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to close the bridge Wednesday evening, citing a number of wrecks among drivers trying to get to the bridge.
DoTD reopened the bridge from downtown New Orleans to Algiers shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday.
The only way on and off the bridge are the Tchoupitoulas ramps on the downtown side and Gen. De Gaulle ramps on the Algiers side.
