Drops in crime in New Orleans have been sustained now for the first half of year.
NOPD released the stats today.
Six months into 2024, and the crime reduction trends are proving they have become a pattern.
Murder is down 40 percent.
Shootings are down 44 percent.
Auto Theft is 45 percent lower.
Carjackings have decreased 50 percent.
Armed Robberies have fallen 52 percent.
Overall crime for the first half of the year is down 26 percent.
While shoplifting and other theft has increased, nearly all of the other categories are showing significant drops.
