The New Orleans District Attorney's Office has brought more charges in a deadly arson fire that killed three children in New Orleans East in October.
Prosecutors say the fire was set by Joseph Washington, a vengeful ex of the children's mother. Washington is charged with first degree murder.
D.A. Jason Williams says Shanyka Phillips gave a ride to Washington after Washington ditched his car in the river on the Westbank after the October fire.
"She chose to meet him, drive him to safety, conceal his whereabouts, and construct the lawful investigation into these heinous crimes," said Williams.
A grand jury indicted Phillips for accessory after the fact to first degree murder and aggravated arson.
"This is yet another reminder to anyone who aids or assists a dangerous criminal before, during, or rafter they commit crimes in the city, they will be prosecuted," said Williams.
