The New Orleans Saints enter the bye week coming off a victory over the Carolina Panthers, and one analyst says Sunday's win provided a path to a successful back end of the season.
That analyst, Mike Detillier, says the Saints need to repeat their game plan throughout the rest of the season if they want to keep winning.
"You're gonna win if you can balance it out," Detillier said to WWL's Tommy Tucker. "If you're a coach, you've got some of them where you don't want to look at that gameplan again. Yesterday's was one of them that worked."
Detillier says the Saints' ability to establish a running game opened up the offense, allowing rookie quarterback Tyler Shough to complete several deep passes, including this touchdown tosses to Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson. Detillier also gave the Saints defense credit for not allowing Carolina to build any momentum.
"You ripped away their strength in running the football," Detillier said. "Three-and-out after the touchdown drive, and you build some confidence in this football team."
That confidence, Detillier said, was a much needed boost for the Black-and-Gold.
"I think playing with some confidence catapulted this team yesterday," Detillier said.
