How to get the most people vaccinated in the least amount of time is a topic of discussion today for some New Orleans City Council members and officials with the city's office of homeland security and emergency preparedness.
The New Orleans City Council's special Emergency Preparedness and Cybersecurity committee gets an update today on plans for a citywide mass vaccination program.
"I think this is what people wanna see," saidDr. Jeff Elder of LCMC Health. LCMC is planning to do mass vaccinations at the Morial Convention Center. They're working out the logistics needed to get as many shots given as possible.
"We're going to have to get the numbers higher to get the full population vaccinated to reach that herd immunity," said Dr. Elder.
The committee meets by videoconference at one this afternoon.
