The past few days have been hot and humid. Even morning temperatures are high, today it was around 79 degrees.

Relief won't come until Sunday, after a cold front is expected to make its way to the area.

With the way unusual weather has become the new status quo, one starts to wonder if this summer will be the hottest we've seen!

LSU Health Climatologist, Barry Keim, says it's a little early to call this a precursor to what's to come.

"Summer, at this point, is anyone's guess. What's happening now doesn't necessarily connect."

However, he says, what is happening now is nothing short of surprising.

"The lows as of late have been fifteen to twenty degrees higher than any record set," Keim says. "That pattern continues into the weekend."

So, as for summer, we'll see.
