Suspect in Lundi Gras murder of Uber driver, passenger out on bail at time of killing

Cops arrested a suspect in the killing of an Uber driver and his passenger on Lundi Gras in New Orleans East. The suspect, 33-year-old Tyree Quinn, was out on bail and awaiting trial on charges that include armed robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, hit-and-run, and possession of a stolen car.

Police say Quinn was aiming for 21-year-old Johnell Hampton, a passenger in 35-year-old Andrew Stiller's car, when he opened fire on Monday, February 20 as Stiller was driving on I-10 Service Road near Bundy Road in New Orleans East. Both Hampton and Stiller were killed.

Stiller's vehicle crashed into another car with four people inside. One of the people in that car was also hit by gunfire. Two others were injured in the crash.

The shooting victim remains in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities were able to track Quinn down because the bail-bonds company that covered his bail required Quinn to wear an ankle monitor.

Capt. Burns says they believe there are more suspects involved in this case, and asked anyone with information to call NOPD Homicide Detective Det. Rayell Johnson at (504) 658-5300, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
