DuBos: She’s the Donald Trump of New Orleans

DuBos: She’s the Donald Trump of New Orleans
WWL

Political analyst Clancy DuBos unloaded on Mayor LaToya Cantrell while speaking with WWL’s Tommy Tucker this morning.

In his inimitable style DuBos sized up his reaction to the Mayor during her late afternoon press conference where she reportedly addressed issues from siting in juvenile court to flying first class.

“She’s the Donald Trump of New Orleans, I don’t know how else to put it,” DuBos said.  “In terms of being self-centered and callously indifferent to the plight of people and just obtuse to the reality.”

To say DuBos burst from starting gate is an understatement as he went on to support his initial statements.

“Like people say about Donald Trump and its true, the man only cares about himself and makes everything about himself and this is how she’s doing it and she contradicted herself on several occasions without even realizing it!”

DuBos was especially harsh as he claimed the Mayor was less than truthful in her explanations to the media about attending juvenile court and sitting with the accused’s family.

“And she claimed, obtusely, falsely that ‘I didn’t take sides’.  Yes, she did.  When you’re in court, whether it’s juvenile court, or the Supreme Court of the United States, and it is a criminal matter, there are only two sides.  There’s the perpetrator’s side and there’s the victim’s side.  She chose the perpetrator’s side.”

DuBos took issue as well with the Mayor proclaiming herself an ambassador for New Orleans and justifying her extravagant travel expenses.

“When you’re the Mayor, you have to know that everything you say and everything you do and everywhere you go sends a message.  She herself said that.  She says ‘I had to go to Paris, I had to go to Switzerland, and I had to go all over the world, to be an ambassador and I’m going to do that again.  Because where I go matters.  Well, guess what? When you go to juvenile court and you sit with the perpetrator while the victims are jaw dropped at the sight of the Mayor coming in to sit with the man who stuck a gun in their faces, that sends a message, too.”
