Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred this morning in Metairie.
The suspect in the shooting remained on the scene after the incident and initially made a self-defense claim.
After the initial stages of the investigation cast doubt on that claim, detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant for the suspect for Second Degree Murder.
He has since been booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
Deputies were initially dispatched to a shooting in the 3200 block of Lisa Drive at around 2:30 am.
They found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
The suspect’s identity is being withheld for investigative reasons.
