Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry says the state broke an in-person early voting record.
"Between Oct. 18-29, 849,784 voters cast their ballots early in-person, versus the 817,957 who did so in 2020," Landry said in a news release.

When you include ballots mailed in or delivered, the number is even higher.
"In total, 960,561 Louisiana voters cast their ballots ahead of the Nov. 5 election, including absentee ballots returned."
Tuesday was the single biggest day of early voting.
"Louisiana also broke the single-day in-person record on the final day of early voting, with 103,456 Louisianans voting on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The previous record was 99,004 on the final day of early voting in 2020."
There is still time to vote ahead of election day. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, and the deadline to return an absentee ballot is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.
“I’m pleased that so many Louisianans have already made their voices heard in this election,” Sec. Landry said. “Those who did not take advantage of early voting can still vote on Election Day, Nov. 5, between 6 a.m.- 8 p.m.”
