One of Mardi Gras’ biggest carnival krewes, Endymion, will host its 2022 Extravaganza in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

In a statement sent Friday, the super-krewe announced it will host its massive formal Mardi Gras party in the Superdome in 2022 instead of the Morial Convention Center where it had to move to because of renovations underway inside the Superdome.

“This change of venue is possible because of the short time frame for renovation work between the end of the New Orleans Saints 2021 season and the NCAA Men’s Final Four arrival in March of 2022 allowing the Superdome the ability to host the Endymion Extravaganza in 2022,” the krewe said in a statement.

“Having the iconic Endymion parade and great musical performances back in the Superdome will not impact the renovation that is moving forward and on schedule. We have a window of opportunity in 2022 just prior to the Final Four, and we are thrilled that Endymion and its members will be back,” said Doug Thornton, ASM Global Executive VP of Stadiums and Arenas.

The 2022 Extravaganza will happen in the Superdome on February 26.

Endymion will return to the Convention Center in 2023 and 2024 when major construction work resumes at the Superdome.
