Entergy decides to pull the plug on a $30 million deal to build a dedicated power substation to power pumps at the Sewerage and Water Board according to a Nola.com report.
Back in June, the two utilities agreed to split some of the cost of a $74 million project to switch the S&WB off its unreliable and archaic power source in favor of Entergy-supplied power.
Now that Entergy has backed out of the deal, it puts the S&WB in jeopardy as its own aging power plant proves to be unreliable during major storms and hurricanes.
As Nola.com reports, the project could still stay alive with another source of funding, however, Sewerage and Water Board Executive Director Ghassan Korban is concerned that may not happen before the 2023 hurricane season.
