During an interview held at this past weekend's Essence Festival in New Orleans, Vice President Kamala Harris had what was dubbed a "fireside chat about cultural issues" affecting Black women in America.
But the content of Harris's interview was quickly overshadowed for some on social media by a spelling blunder on the backdrop behind the VP.
Beneath the Vice Presidential seal and Harris's name and title, the location of the event was listed as "New Orleans, Lousiana," with the first "I" in the state's name inexplicably missing.
This led to a torrent of criticism on social media for Harris and her team.
.@VP I would say one of the most pressing issues would be learning to read and write, given the fact that LOUISIANA was misspelled on the backdrop as "LOUSIANA". Let's get back to the basics reading, writing, math, and science and cut out all the other garbage. https://t.co/C9e6qOFQ08

Every once of credibility went out the window once you see Louisiana spelled "Lousiana".

Well done NOLA. We here on the Northshore knew you had it in ya'.
Our best to Mayor Lotoya "Latoya the Destroya'" Cantrell.
The misspelling remained up for the duration of the interview, which you can see in its entirety below.
