Even more rain

Get ready for more rain.

"Kind of a repeat of what we had pretty much on Thursday," said LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim.

The cold air continues to blow in too, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s, feeling like 30s with the wind chill at times.

Keim says we're caught in a weather pattern where moisture spins up from the gulf and then rapidly condenses and dumps rain. And the last time this happened, the regin shut down for days.

"This is essentially what was in place when we had that big snow storm except the temperatures obviously were a lot colder in February than they were at this point here in December," said Keim.

Some areas picked up more than four inches of rain in Thursday.

The good news, he says, is this will help break us out of drought conditions and give us much needed moisture.

While we dry out on Sunday during the day, a cold front will bring a chance of storms Sunday night and even colder conditions next week.
