People are still abuzz about the Media Day bash at Mardi Gras world last night, but the pedal stays to the metal the entire weekend. New Orleans & Company’s Mark Romig joined WWL’s Tommy Tucker on radio row to discuss the bevy of events that are still on tap. “It really is a spectacular way to experience the magic of Super Bowl week with family and friends,” Romig says. He notes that the event will run from today through Friday at 3pm until 10pm. On Saturday, the event will run a solid twelve hours from 10am til 10pm.

Accessibility was an emphasis this year, with organizers making sure that fans will be able to traverse the city from event to event without having to pay a fortune or deal with parking nightmares. “We’ve got two days of action-packed activities with so much going on in the area this weekend,” notes Romig. “We’re running a shuttle from various locations around town starting at 2pm. You can catch the shuttle at either Oakwood, New Orleans East Plaza, the Audubon Zoo, and Delgado Community College and tickets are only $10. We encourage everyone to take advantage of that cheap ride so you can leave your cars at home” Romig adds.

Kids aged 12 and under can enter the Super Bowl Experience for free, and Romig points out that there are activities and attractions for members of the entire family, regardless of age. “You’ve got player autographs, interactive games, the Vince Lombardi trophy is there along with all 58 Super Bowl rings that folks can look at as well,” emphasizes Romig. Friday and Saturday will feature a free festival at the French Market from 11am-5pm on both days that will have music stages & great food.

Romig also points out that Saturday will feature a mini-Mardi Gras style parade with Todd Graves of Raisin’ Canes acting as Grand Marshall.
The parade will also feature floats from various NFL sponsors and Romig expects that a few celebrities may make cameo appearances in the parade as well. “It’s an exciting way for us to display Mardi Gras culture to those visitors who are in town,” Romig goes on to say. Between visitors and locals attending all the events around town, the Crescent City is sure to be abuzz all weekend. Details on events can be found at nolasuperbowl.com
