Arctic air has blown into Southeast Louisiana.

"Temperatures are in the 20s this morning with wind chills in the teens,"  WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone said.

He said we would not get above freezing until late morning, then freeze again tonight.

"Highs stay in the 30s today, with colder temperatures tonight, dropping into the teens north of the lake and mid-20s on the South Shore."

Ice is not expected in area roads. The ice storm stayed to the north and west of Southeast Louisiana.

Malone offered a weather timeline:

Monday Morning
Very cold and windy. Temperatures in the 20s with wind chills in the teens. Extreme Cold Warning in effect. Dress in layers and limit time outside if possible.

Monday Afternoon.
Temperatures rise above freezing by around 10 a.m. You can stop dripping pipes at that time, but it will remain cold in the 30s all day.

Monday Night
Even colder. Temperatures drop into the teens north of the lake and mid 20s on the Southshore. Pipes will need to be dripped again overnight.

Tuesday Afternoon
Slow improvement, but still chilly. Highs in the 40s with lingering.

Wednesday and Thursday Mornings
Additional freezing temperatures north of the lake. The Southshore slowly starts to lose the freeze, but it will still be cold.

This Weekend
Another blast of Arctic air arrives. No snow or ice expected locally, but more pipe freeze concerns. Afternoon temperatures may struggle to get out of the 30s, and parade conditions will be very cold.
