Dangerous heat this weekend for Southeast Louisiana

Dangerous heat this weekend for Southeast Louisiana
NWS

Forecasters are warning of some of the most intense heat yet this year.

"Extreme Heat Warning for Saturday as heat indices near 115°," WWL TV Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin explained. "A surface and upper high over the Gulf south leads to hotter temps and a reduction in rain chances."

He days the upper high looks to dominate through the weekend, with intense heat sticking around beyond that.

NWS

"Long range guidance keeps the above normal heat well into the end of August!"

Meanwhile there is nothing in the Tropics that looks to impact the Gulf Coast.
